Fascicularia bicolor is a gorgeous perennial, that is ideal for incorporating into patio pots, conservatoires and low maintenance gardening schemes. Easy to care for and happy to progress in direct sunlight, enjoy its textural silver-green leaflets, that develop in a rosette forming mound, topped by hot red flowers in late summer. A beautiful addition to rockeries and sheltered borders, watch it flourish to a height of 45cm, along with a spread of 100cm. Once you have seen Fascicularia in full flower, it is quite impossible to forget! This extraordinary Bromeliad is a Chilean native with linear silver-green foliage that forms a spreading, evergreen rosette. The leaves are tough with a sharp, serrated edge. Grow Fascicualaria in poor, sharply drained soil in full sun. In free draining soils, it will tolerate short periods down to -5C (23F). However, these plants particularly resent cold, wet soils. In areas where cold, wet winters are common, it is best grown in a container that can be moved to a frost free greenhouse or conservatory during the winter months.
