This superb Corylus, is much loved for its vibrant green catkins that appear in Spring and its robust, tasty Hazelnuts from September to November. Boasting a bushy growing habit of fresh green leaflets, be sure to plant your hardy shrub within wildlife and woodland gardening schemes and keep positioned in semi shade. Enjoy watching it progress to a height and spread of 3m. This versatile native tree can be used as a border shrub, screening specimen or hedging plant. Choose a sheltered position on moist, well drained soil in sun or light shade. Prior to planting Hazelnut trees, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and water well to settle the soil. To ensure pollination, it is best to grow hazelnuts in groups of two or more cultivars.
