‘Devonshire Compact’ is a superb Lavender, that is ready to flower from June until October. It produces a profusion of bright purple blooms, that smother a neat growing habit of fragrant, silver-green foliage. Easy to care for and a great cottage garden staple, be sure to incorporate into woodland, scented and wildlife themed landscapes for maximum impact. Happy to grow in direct sunlight, watch it thrive to a height of 35cm, along with a spread of 40cm. As indicated by its name, this low growing cultivar has a neat, compact habit. Throughout summer Lavender ‘Devonshire Compact’ bears a profusion of blue flower spikes topped with distinctive purple bracts.
Grow French lavender plants on free draining soil in full sun. Lavenders dislike wet ground, particularly during winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting. When growing French lavender in large patio containers, use a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. After planting, prune lavender plants to encourage bushy growth.
