Pileostegia viburnoides is a fabulous perennial that is a great gap filler, coastal and cottage garden staple. Blooming from August to October, you will witness an abundance of frothy white flowers, that completely cloak its bushy, yet climbing growing habit of shiny green foliage. A much loved, slow growing shrub, keep positioned in semi shade and watch it thrive to a height of 6m, along with a spread of 2m. Clusters of softly frothing, creamy-white flowers cover this evergreen climber from August to September.

Pileostegia viburnoides will grow in full shade, part shade or full sun. Grow in any rich fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Grow against walls and fences where it will cling and support itself via aerial roots.

Water regularly until plants are fully established. After flowering, trim back perimeter shoots to fit the available space if required. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: Contact with hydrangea foliage may irritate the skin and eyes and all parts are harmful if eaten.
