A choice selection of Stipa tenuissima that has become deservedly popular with garden designers. Stipa tenuissima ‘Ponytails’ is a semi-evergreen grass forming clumps of thread-like, yellow-green foliage and an abundance of silky flowers. The fine foliage moves in the slightest breeze and provides a lovely textural contrast against other perennials. The silvery-green flowers create magical light effects as they catch the sun. In late summer, the flowers fade to a beautiful buff yellow. A fabulous plant for a dry, baked border in poor soil. Drift it amongst prairie-style perennials and bulbs such as Echinacea and Allium sphaerocephalon. It is wonderful for softening border edges or planted into patio containers and positioned somewhere it will be backlit by the sun. Height: 60cm (24″). Spread: 30cm (12″).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
