‘Girenas’ is a showy Clematis, that is ready to bloom from June until September. It generates an abundance of large pale pink and lilac flowers, that smother a compact growing habit of fresh green foliage. Ideal for growing in large containers, spiralling along trellis, walls and obelisks, you can count on this Old man’s beard to create a vibrant summer display wherever placed. Position in semi shade and watch it thrive to a height of 3m, along with a spread of 1m. Clematis ‘Girenas’ is a compact cultivar, producing a profusion of flowers in June and July, with a second flush in late summer. Its eye-catching, large flowers are pale pink with wonderfully crimped edges and a central bar of deep pink through each sepal. Clematis ‘Girenas’ is perfect for brightening up a lightly-shaded wall, where the flowers will be less prone to fading. Height: 3m (10′). Spread: 1m (3′) Pruning group: 2. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3″) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
