Clusters of delicate snowdrops, their heads gently nodding, herald the end of winter with quiet grace. These native gems thrive in the cool, dappled shade beneath trees and shrubs, yet they also flourish in alpine gardens or as part of a naturalized meadow. Consider adding them to window boxes or containers in a mixed planting design. Their versatility and vigor make them perfect for quickly forming a fragrant carpet of honey-scented, double blooms. Snowdrops reach a height of 15cm (6″) and spread 10cm (4″). Plant bulbs in the autumn, or opt for snowdrops in the green for spring planting. Only carefully cultivated stock is used. Plant snowdrops in the dappled shade of deciduous trees. Snowdrop bulbs thrive in reliably moist, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting to improve less than ideal soils. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4″) and a distance of 10cm (4″) apart. For natural looking drifts of snowdrop flowers, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!
