Tulip Pink Giant
This beautiful variety of tulip grows hot pink blooms with a traditional goblet shape that rise upwards on strong sturdy stems in mid-spring. This striking and sophisticated variety is great for growing in beds and borders where it becomes a carpet of pink that contrasts magically with its blue-green foliage. The huge blooms and sturdy stems look wonderful for indoor cut flower arrangements, so make sure you grow an extra few to be able to cut and enjoy in a vase. Grow these tulips in big dense groups for the best impact or, alternatively, plant into patio pots for a vibrant display. Height: 50cm (20″). Spread: 15cm (6″).
Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6″) and at a distance of 13cm (5″) apart.
