The Crate lounge sofa is part of HAY’s collection of wooden outdoor furniture. The sturdy Crate sofa is characterised by its clean and balanced lines, which give the lounge sofa an architectural and elegant look. The first Crate furniture was designed by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in 1934. At that time, the furniture was made from leftover wooden shipping crates – hence the name of the collection. Today, Rietveld Originals and HAY use lacquered pine as the material. Finished with a weatherproof coating, the Crate lounge sofa is ideal for all kinds of outdoor spaces from the terrace to the garden and balcony.
