Typha latifolia, commonly known as the Bulrush, is a familiar sight along Britain’s waterways. This robust species features tall, strap-like leaves and upright flower stems that can reach up to 2.4m (94″). Its distinctive, chocolate-brown, cigar-shaped blooms are not only visually striking but also remain intact throughout the winter, well after the foliage has died back. A hardy native perennial, Typha latifolia thrives as a marginal aquatic plant, making it an excellent choice for lakes and large ponds. Height: 240cm (94″). Spread: 150cm (59″). Planting depth: Zones 2 and 3, 30cm (12″) below water level. Note: Plant height and spread vary with the seasons, so we list by pot size rather than a fixed plant size. The height and spread of the plant you receive may differ depending on the season, and the images provided are for reference only. Grow Typha fully submerged in the margins of ponds with the crown to a maximum depth of up to 30cm (12″) below water level. Choose a position in full sun.
