‘James Grieve’ is a popular Malus that delivers on sweet flavour, high yields and fabulous texture. Ready to eat in September, this hardy Apple tree is just what you need for making pies, juice and even munching straight from the tree! It enjoys a sunny place to develop and will be easy to care for, it produces small flowers from April until June and will brighten up your garden with its fresh green foliage. Its smooth skins are rosy, red in colour and its inner flesh has a soft, yet firm finish. A fantastic RHS AGM variety that makes an excellent cooking apple as well as a delectable dessert apple! Harvest the fruits in early September for crisp, refreshing apples that hold their shape well when cooked. After a few weeks, the fruits mature, acquiring a sweet flavour and soft texture that makes them ideal for dessert. Plant apple trees in any well drained soil in a sheltered sunny position. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole and drive the stake into the ground to support the tree. Staking after planting may result in damage to the root ball. Plant fruit trees at their original soil level and firm them into the ground. Fasten the tree to the stake using a tree tie, and water well.
