Ananas comosus features distinctive, arching, sword-like leaves, creating a strong, architectural display as it matures. During summer, the plant will produce small purple flowers, which are followed by the iconic pineapple fruit. Although it can take 7 to 8 months for the fruit to reach its full size—up to 30cm—your patience and care will be rewarded. Our plants are shipped with a fruit already beginning to form, helping to speed up the process. A native of South America, this Bromeliad thrives in bright, direct sunlight, making it perfect for a conservatory or south-facing windowsill. Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings, and ensure the pot has good drainage. Feed the plant during its active growing months, from March to September, to promote healthy growth. The pineapple is ready to harvest when it turns a yellow-orange colour and gives off a sweet aroma.
