This robust and lively Veronica stands out as one of the best we’ve encountered, blooming from May to September with its stunning, bright purple flower spikes. The blooms are supported by sturdy stems above compact clumps of lance-shaped, serrated leaves on bushy, well-branched plants. Flowering reliably in its first year, this low-maintenance perennial is rarely affected by pests or diseases, and its superb hardiness makes it an excellent addition to the front of the border. Its vibrant flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies, adding both beauty and wildlife interest to your garden. Height: 35cm (14″). Spread: 30cm (12″). Pot up Veronica plants and grow them on in warm, frost-free conditions until plants are well grown. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planting out in their final positions. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded position in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Veronica prefers a fertile, humus rich soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.
