PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
To create a bespoke weathervane, the blacksmith begins with an image, often supplied by the customer, in this case a broad and brooding bull. The image is used to create a wooden template which will be carefully cut into the correct shape and includes a detailed outline. This skeleton is then securely clamped to a piece of 3mm steel.
Together the wood and steel are passed through a plasma cutter which expertly cuts out every aspect of the design from the nose ring to the frayed tail. Once the finial is released from the clamp it is then filed to ensure any rough edges or seams are taken care of before being painted by hand and grated onto the directional arrow. The positioning of the decoration on the arrow is crucial as it will need to weight the fletched end enough to allow for the spinning action.
This entirely unique piece is also supplied with a universal bracket which can be installed either horizontally within the gable end, or vertically on top of a flat roof or garage.
