‘Red’ is a vibrant Astilbe, that is ready to bloom from June until August. It generates an abundance of elegant, hot red flower plumes, that stand proudly above a clump forming habit of fresh green, neatly cut foliage. Perfect for planting at pond edges, in cut flower, woodland and cottage gardening schemes, this hardy perennial will make a real statement wherever placed. Happy to progress in semi shade, watch it thrive to a height of 70cm, along with a spread of 50cm. Plant astilbes in sun or dappled shade. Astilbe plants require rich fertile soil that remains permanently moist, even in the height of summer. A boggy soil next to a pond or stream is ideal. On drier soils, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or compost prior to planting and choose a shaded position.
