The country’s best selling hedge and with good reason! Fast growing, with large, glossy bright green leaves. Flowers April-May. Supplied height 30-45cm – in a 2 litre pot.
Prunus Rotundifolia is a dense evergreen shrub more commonly known as an ornamental cherry. Large glossy rounded leaves provide a wonderful contrasting backdrop for the spikes of fragrant white flowers in spring which provides a great source of nectar for pollinating insects. As the flowers fade in autumn, glossy fine berries are formed providing food for garden birds.
Grow Cherry Laurel plants in sun or shade, in any moderately fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Prunus shrubs at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil. When planting a Cherry Laurel hedge, position the individual plants at a distance of 75cm (30″) apart.
