‘Vendome’ is a superb Lily, that is much loved for its pollenless flowers! Appearing from June until September, you can count on this vibrant hardy perennial to fill your garden with drama and texture. Producing sweetly scented, huge blooms, each petal is a gorgeous baby pink in colour, sprinkled with maroon and featuring a contrasting yellow centre. They top an upright growing habit of fresh green foliage and enjoy progressing in semi shade. Perfect for planting in patio pots, tropical and cut flower gardening schemes, watch them flourish to a height of 120cm, along with a spread of 30cm. All the glamour and perfume expected of an Oriental Lily, but without the danger of pollen staining your clothes or furnishings. Oriental lilies prefer a moist, free draining, neutral to acid soil that is rich in organic matter. Prior to planting, add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil to give your lilies the best start. When growing lilies in containers, use a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2. Lily bulbs should be planted at a depth of approximately 3 times their own height and 15cm (6”) apart. Planting deeply helps to protect the bulb during particularly hot periods. Choose a sheltered, sunny position where lilies will grow with their heads in the sun and their roots in the shade.
