This beautiful Christmas Berry is a real favourite and sits well in any sized garden. Much loved for its vibrant ruby red foliage, this exciting Photinia bears crimson stems and fresh green leaflets lower down the plant. Its two-tone effect will be accompanied by a flurry of delicate white blooms from April until June, it is incredibly easy to care for and requires full sun to develop. Ideal for using as attractive hedging, adding to woodlands and making exciting focal points, ‘Red Robin’ tolerates hard pruning and remains neat and compact even when left. It most definitely deserves a space where it can show off its wonderful colours, watch it thrive to a height and spread of up to 4m. Photinia x fraseri ‘Red Robin’ produces a dazzling display of young scarlet foliage in spring which, along with the crimson stems, contrasts fabulously with the mature green foliage further down the plant. Grow Photinia plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any moderately fertile, moist, well drained soil. In frost prone areas, plant Photinia next to a warm wall or in the shelter of other shrubs. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Photinia shrubs at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.
