‘Greensleeves’ is a mid-season and heavy cropping green apple that is very well suited for the UK. It’s crisp, sweet and not too juicy flesh is brilliant for cooking, making it a real treat for crumbles, pies and other sweet treats, as it only sweetens as the cooking process occurs. Good resistance to mildew, scab, canker and many other diseases, as well as being a strong pollinator, making it a nice option for pairing with another fertile apple. Somewhere between a James Grieve and Golden Delicious, this RHS AGM winner won’t disappoint on quality of crop. Height 3m. Plant apple trees in any well drained soil in a sheltered sunny position. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole and drive the stake into the ground to support the tree. Staking after planting may result in damage to the root ball. Plant fruit trees at their original soil level and firm them into the ground. Fasten the tree to the stake using a tree tie, and water well.
