Our fabulous new Bumper Allium Collection includes five of our most popular varieties, ready to bloom from May until July. You will witness a profusion of dome-shaped, purple, yellow and white flowers, that stand tall above slender green stems, amongst a clump forming habit of fresh green foliage. A great shrub for filling gaps, adding texture and adding architectural height, be sure to incorporate into cottage, urban and wildlife themed landscapes. Happy to develop in semi shade, watch them progress to a maximum height of 100cm, with a maximum spread of 90cm. No garden should be without them! From statuesque varieties that create strong architecture amongst mound-forming perennials, to low growing gems for the front of borders and rockeries, every variety in this Bumper Allium Collection deserves a place in the garden. Alliums thrive in free-draining soils in full sun. If growing in clay soils, add grit when planting to improve drainage. Avoid planting in cold wet soils as the bulbs are prone to rot in these conditions. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4”) and a distance of 10cm (4”) apart. A slow release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.
