‘Hyde Hall’ is a gorgeous Old man’s beard, that is ready to flower from April until September. It produces masses of huge pearly white blooms, that each feature a vivid maroon centre. Smothering a compact, yet deciduous growing habit of fresh green foliage, this vibrant Clematis is perfect for growing in containers for trailing, along walls and fences, scrambling through mature shrubs in borders or in cottage themed landscapes. Position in semi shade and watch it flourish in height to 180cm, along with a spread of 100cm. Clematis ‘Hyde Hall’ produces wide, single white flowers marked with the palest hint of pink along the length of each petal. The delicate colours of this large-flowered Clematis will brighten up a gloomy corner, often taking on slightly greener hues when grown in shade. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3″) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
