Possibly one of the easiest houseplants to grow, Phildodendron is a fast-growing climbing vine that offers plenty of scope for creative displays Philodendron is an adaptable plant, growing happily in average room temperatures of 18C (65F) – 24C (75F). Do not allow temperatures to fall below 12C (55F). Place in a position which receives several hours of bright, indirect light but avoid direct sunlight. Good light is essential for maintaining the coloured foliage and variegation and plants kept in low light will revert to dark green. Avoid positions close to cold draughts and radiators. Water regularly, allowing the top half of compost to dry out between waterings and never leave sitting in water. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Philodendron appreciates a humid atmosphere – stand it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it will increase humidity around the plant. Misting the foliage daily with a fine spray will also help to improve humidity.
