‘Innocent Glance’ is a gorgeous Old man’s beard, that is ready to flower from May until October. It produces masses of double, rosy pink blooms, that each measure up to 15cm in width! Smothering a compact, yet deciduous growing habit of fresh green foliage, this vibrant Clematis is perfect for growing in containers for trailing, along walls and fences, scrambling through mature shrubs in borders or in cottage themed landscapes. Position in semi shade and watch it flourish in height to 250cm, along with a spread of 100cm. Exquisite, fully double flowers each measuring up to 15cm (6″) across are produced from late spring to mid-summer. The rosette-like blooms emerge deep pink and gently fade to pale pink as they mature. Later in the season, a second flush of blooms appear – this time single, but equally beautiful. Pot up clematis plants and grow them on until large enough to plant in their final positions. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3″) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
