Hydrangea Macrophylla Endless Summer – The Original
Hydrangea Macrophylla ‘The Original’ was the first introduction from the ‘Endless Summer’ series. This ground-breaking variety blooms on both old wood and new shoots, in soft tones of purple-blue and rose-pink, depending on the soil pH. As like most of the family of Macrophylla varieties, these offer spectacular autumn colour when the leaves gradually turn red and gold. Making them an ideal option for year-round colour and interest where it grows. Therefore, perfect for both borders or containers.
These kinds of Hydrangeas also rebloom and grow in a neat and compact habit. Flowers appear consistently throughout summer from May to September while remaining sturdy and presenting good disease resistance, especially with mildew. Height: 120cm (4′). Spread: 150cm (5′).
Hydrangea macrophylla prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Alternatively plant hydrangea macrophylla in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
