‘Barnaby Sunset’ is a striking Rhododendron, that blooms from April until May. It generates a profusion of gorgeous silky yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers, that smother a compact, upright growing habit of glossy green foliage. Perfect for planting in woodland and low maintenance gardening schemes, it also looks wonderful in modern patio pots and colourful borders. Happy to grow in semi shade, watch it progress to a height and spread of 120cm. Rhododendron ‘Barnaby Sunset’ has a distinctly upright habit, making it different to most dwarf hybrids. The small glossy leaves remain evergreen, providing colour throughout the year. In April the pale yellow blooms open from apricot buds in profusion. A lovely plant for a woodland garden or acid border. Height and spread: 120cm (48″). Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
