‘Viennetta’ is a stunning Clematis, that is ready to bloom from June until October. It produces an abundance of pure white flowers, that each feature a striking layered green and purple centre; contrasting wonderfully against its deciduous growing habit of fresh green foliage. Perfect for planting in patio pots and trailing along walls and up obelisks, be sure to position in semi shade so it can flourish to a height of 240cm, along with a spread of 200cm. The remarkable flowers of Clematis ‘Viennetta’ are a real show-stopper! Although its parentage of Clematis florida ‘Sieboldii’ is obvious, it’s blooms are distinctly different and will certainly attract attention. This unusual variety enjoys a sheltered south or west facing position, preferably against a warm wall. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3″) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
