Equisetum hyemale is a wonderful hardy perennial, that is much loved for its bamboo-like appearance. Each slender upright stem is a bright green in colour and boasts intricate black markings from the top to the bottom. Perfect for planting in bogs and water gardens, keep positioned in semi shade and enjoy watching your marginal aquatic develop in height to 120cm, along with a spread of 30cm. Equisetum is vigorous and best grown in an aquatic basket to restrict its spread. Grow Equisetum in boggy soil and the shallow margins of ponds with the crown planted to a depth of up to 15cm (6″) below water level. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade.
