As an addition to a security fence, or to help to add a touch of colour to any other type of hedging, the Red Leafed Rose is an ideal candidate. Capable of standing on its own and forming a dense thicket of thorns and purple/grey leaves and pink flowers, Rosa glauca R. Rubrifolia will also scramble through other hedging plants to add density as well. A very tough and easy to grow plant, it will be appreciated by wildlife for its hips in autumn and by you for it’s natural beauty whilst forming an effective boundary. Height: 250cm (98′). Spread: 250cm (98′). Planting Distance: 50cm (20″). (3 plants per metre for a single line hedge).

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible.

Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
