Juncus effusus is a wonderful perennial, that is perfect for growing in alpines, cottage and water gardens. From June until September, you will witness bundles of purple-brown blooms, that are borne upon stiff upright stems, amongst a clump forming habit of spreading green foliage. Happy to develop in semi shade, watch it thrive to a height and spread of 60cm. Grow Juncus in moist, boggy, acid soil or submerged in the shallow margins of ponds with the crown to a maximum depth of up to 15cm (6″) below water level. Choose a position in sun or semi shade.
