A fantastic variety that provides harvests in both summer and autumn, maximizing space in your garden while delivering abundant crops of sweet, juicy red stalks perfect for crumbles, pies, and desserts twice a year! Thanks to the elimination of summer dormancy, Rhubarb Sanvitos Summer yields its first crop in May, followed by even larger harvests in September and October as the weather cools. Forcing extends the harvest even further, producing the sweetest, juiciest, and most beautifully pink stems, a true delicacy. Height: 60cm (24″). Spread: 120cm (48″). Plant rhubarb from autumn to spring in a sunny position in well drained soil. Prepare the soil in advance by digging in plenty of well rotted manure and clearing all weeds. When planting rhubarb crowns, set them so that the top of the crown sits 3cm (1″) below soil level and allow a spacing of 75cm (30″) between plants. Alternatively plant them in large containers of soil based compost such as John Innes No 3. mixed with plenty of rotted manure.
