Ugni molinae Strawberries and Cream is an attractive evergreen shrub that offers more than just lush foliage – it also produces exotic, aromatic berries with an unforgettable flavour! This compact, dense shrub features leathery, fragrant leaves year-round. In late spring to summer, delicate white-to-pink bell-shaped flowers with dark red ovaries hang from long stems, attracting bees with their sweet fragrance. These flowers give way to wine-red, perfumed berries that are not only visually appealing but surprisingly delicious! Described as a blend of strawberry, sherbet, and blueberry, the sugary berries have a distinct herbal flavour that must be tasted to be believed. Low-maintenance and hardy in most UK regions, Strawberries and Cream thrives in a warm, sunny, and sheltered spot, away from cold winds. It can also be grown in a container, allowing easy relocation to a protected area during winter. Height: 1.5m (5ft). Spread: 1m (3ft). Note: Plant height and spread can vary depending on the season. We list by pot size rather than a fixed size, so the plant’s size at delivery may differ from the images shown. An attractive evergreen shrub that also produces exotic berries with an indescribable flavour!

Pot up your Chilean Guava and grow on in frost free conditions. When plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for a period of 7 to 10 days.

Transplant your shrub into borders and containers outdoors in moist, well-drained soil. Choose a warm position in full sun with shelter from cold, drying winds. A south-facing border, sunny patio or sheltered wall is ideal. When growing in containers use a soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3.

Although hardy in most areas, in more northerly gardens or in very harsh winters it is recommended that frost protection such as fleecing is provided. Chilean Guava grows very happily in a pot in which case it can be brought into the greenhouse or conservatory over the winter if needed.
