The Acer Duo brings together two stunning Acer varieties, perfect for creating eye-catching focal points in sheltered garden areas. Their slow-growing nature makes them ideal for large patio containers or as stand-alone specimens in borders. These trees will reach a height and spread of up to 4m (13′). The Acer palmatum Duo includes: Acer palmatum ‘Atropurpureum’: A classic Japanese Maple, renowned for its deep purple-red foliage, which transforms into a brilliant fiery red in autumn. Acer ‘Osakazuki Seedling’: A striking variety admired for its spectacular and vibrant autumn colours, offering a brilliant display of reds and oranges. This combination provides year-round visual interest, from spring’s fresh foliage to the vivid autumn hues. Pot up acer plants and grow them on in cool frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside in their final positions. When plants are well grown, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions before transplanting them in borders outdoors. Grow acer trees in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade, with shelter from strong winds which can scorch the finely cut leaves. Alternatively grow acers in large containers using a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
