A versatile and robust variety which is happy in a wide range of conditions and has great moisture and drought tolerance. Houttuynia cordata produces striking red stems and green heart-shaped foliage which exudes a powerful perfume when crushed. Snow-white flowers will appear from its spreading stems in summer, making superb ground cover around ponds or through borders.Height: 30cm (12″). Spread: 100cm (39″). This hardy perennial is both moisture and drought tolerant, and thrives in almost any position from sun to dappled shade. Plant Houttuynia in any garden soil, or in the shallow margins of ponds with the crown to a depth of 10cm (4″) below water level. In favourable conditions, Houttuynia will spread freely, but can be easily contained if planted in containers.
