‘Shimmer’ is a stunning Clematis, that is ready to bloom from June until September. It produces an abundance of wide, pale lilac flowers, that each feature a striking white centre; contrasting wonderfully against its bushy, yet compact growing habit of fresh green foliage. Perfect for planting in patio pots and trailing along walls and up obelisks, be sure to position in semi shade so it can flourish to a height of 180cm, along with a spread of 100cm. The large mauve flowers of Clematis ‘Shimmer’ are borne in profusion throughout the summer. Flowers begin from a height of around 60cm (2’) and continue all the way up the stem to create a fabulous display. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3″) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
