Photinia (Standard) Little Red Robin
A smaller variety of the ‘Red Robin Photonia family!
Best known as the smaller member of the Photinia fraseri ‘Red Robin’ family, this more compact variety has all of the colour and impact of its larger cousin, without taking up all the garden space! Smaller but stylish, the Photinia ‘Little Red Robin’ still displays bright red leaves when they first develop which then mature to dark green, and the creamy white flowers in spring show up well against the foliage backdrop.
This attractive and popular evergreen shrub has been expertly trained into a standard (lollipop) shape to provide a striking architectural and formal effect. It’s smaller size makes it perfect for growing in smaller borders and even in large containers on a patio or balcony! Or, why not try growing two either side of a doorway or steps for symmetry and modern decor. Height: 100cm (39″). Spread: 100cm (39″).
Grow Photinia plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any moderately fertile, moist, well drained soil. In frost prone areas, plant Photinia next to a warm wall or in the shelter of other shrubs. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Photinia shrubs at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.
