‘Cowslip’ is a beautiful Rhododendron, that blooms from April until May. It generates bundles of pastel yellow and pink, bell-shaped flowers, that smother a bushy, rounded growing habit of glossy green foliage. Perfect for planting in woodland and low maintenance gardening schemes, it also looks wonderful in modern patio pots and colourful borders. Happy to grow in semi shade, watch it progress to a height and spread of 120cm. Compact and bushy with a lovely rounded habit, Rhododendron ‘Cowslip’ makes a handsome specimen plant all year round. This is a particularly elegant variety. The bell shaped blooms are the palest shade of primrose yellow, delicately painted with raspberry pink streaks at the centre of each flower. Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
