‘Merveille De Bollwiller’ is a superb new Corylus, that is much adored for its high yields of large nuts! Smothering a compact habit of fresh green foliage, they boast a delicious flavour and work well in a range of different culinary dishes. Ready to harvest from October, be sure to incorporate into kitchen, cottage and woodland themed landscapes, where it will progress to a maximum height and spread of 3m and thrive in semi shade. Also known as ‘Hall’s Giant’, the Giant in the name refers to the large-sized nuts and heavy bearing nature of this fruiting variety of cob nut, rather than its overall size. When growing Cobnuts, choose a sheltered position on moist, slightly acid, well drained soil in sun or semi shade. Prior to planting Hazelnut trees, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Cobnut trees at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and water well to settle the soil.
