This stunning Bay Tree Pyramid makes the ultimate statement. Position by an entrance way, outdoor seating area or on a pretty patio, where it can be admired and appreciated for its aromatic, glossy leaflets. During early Spring, bundles of lemon-coloured flowers will appear, adding vibrancy and even more elegance to this hardy shrub. Perfect for incorporating into dull borders and flowerbeds, this beautiful Bay boasts masses of deep green foliage that grows immaculately into a towering triangle. You will receive 1 x 2 litre pot and it will develop to around 70cm in height, be sure to add its scented leaflets into culinary dishes and plant in a sunny spot where it can thrive.
Plant your bay pyramids in moist but well-drained soil in a warm, sunny position that is sheltered from cold, drying winds, which can damage the foliage. In colder areas where the temperatures fall below -5C, overwinter in a greenhouse or conservatory. Keep well watered during the summer months but keep pots on feet so that any excess water can drain away freely. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every two weeks from mid spring to late summer. Reduce watering in the winter and don’t let the compost become soggy or waterlogged.
Simply trim your bay laurel back to the original shape in summer to maintain a compact pyramid. Re-pot the trees every two years in spring, using fresh compost. Tease out some of the roots and trim off excess roots if planting it in the same sized container.
