Rowan is an attractive hardy tree that has a speedy growing habit and flowers from March until May. Commonly used as native hedging, for added security, privacy and structural edging – your Mountain Ash is much loved for its versatility and enjoys being trimmed to regulate a thick, compact form. As Autumn approaches and its leaflets begin to fall, you will witness clusters of glossy red berries appear that attract lots of wildlife and add extra garden interest on those duller days. Your Rowan is ideal for planting in woodland areas and low maintenance gardens, it enjoys a partially shaded spot to grow and will develop in height to 12m, along with a spread of 8m. Plant rowan in moist soil that is also well drained. When initially planting, ensure plenty of compost or organic matter is incorporated into the planting hole to give the plant the best possible start.
