Cephalotaxus harringtonia ‘Korean Gold’ is a slow-growing conifer with a Yew-like appearance. Commonly known as the Plum Yew, it enjoys a cool, moist position and makes a useful specimen plant for shaded woodland areas. ‘Korean Gold’ is a columnar variety with a compact narrow growth habit. With long, gold-tipped needles that mature to green in winter, it forms a golden exclamation mark in the garden! This slow-growing variety will eventually form a majestic tree, but it will take around 15 years to reach just half its mature height. It responds well to hard pruning, making it suitable for use as an evergreen hedging plant. Height: 3m (10′). Spread: 2m (6′). Grow Plum Yew trees in fertile, well drained soil in partial shade. Cephalotaxus requires a cool, moist position with shelter from cold, drying winds.
