‘Crème de Cognac’ is a wonderful half-hardy tuber that blooms from July until November. It produces an abundance of two-toned, red and yellow flowers, that are borne upon lengthy, slender stems, amongst a neat mound of fresh green foliage. Ideal for growing in a tropical themed, cottage or cut flower garden, this Dahlia remains easy to care for all year round and does not disappoint with its floriferous display. Position in direct sunlight and watch it thrive to a height of 90cm, along with a spread of 50cm. The carefully graduated sunset tones of Dahlia ‘Crème de Cognac’ add a warm glow to any planting scheme. Plant Dahlia tubers outdoors in April after all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny position in moist well drained soil. Prepare the soil by digging in plenty of well rotted manure or compost. Plant tubers at a depth of 15cm (6″) and water well. Alternatively, start tubers into growth in pots of compost in a frost free greenhouse. Transplant them into their final positions outdoors in June.
