‘Dark Side of The Moon’ is a vibrant and textural Astilbe, that flowers from July until October. It produces an abundance of pink plumes, that contrast beautifully against its compact mound of rich chocolate foliage. Great for incorporating into yellow themed landscapes, be sure to add into woodland, cottage, cut flower and water gardening schemes. This Astilbe will grow best if positioned in semi shade and will develop in height to 50cm, along with a spread of 60cm. The first dark-leaved, purple-flowered Astilbe! Plant astilbes in sun or dappled shade. Astilbe plants require rich fertile soil that remains permanently moist, even in the height of summer. A boggy soil next to a pond or stream is ideal. On drier soils, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or compost prior to planting and choose a shaded position.
