‘Manju’ is a brand-Clematis, that is ready to flower from June until October. Producing masses of palm-sized blooms in a pale lime, you can really count on this Old man’s beard to turn heads with its uniqueness! Easy to care for and a vigorous climber, watch it scramble through mature hedges and twirl along walls, wires and trellis. It will enjoy semi shade to progress and you will notice its speedy growing habit of fresh green foliage. It will reach a height of 4.5m and will spread to around 1.5m. An unusual Japanese cultivar combining a novel colour and form with a vigorous habit. Pot up clematis plants and grow them on until large enough to plant in their final positions. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3″) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
