The glossy, dark foliage of this plant starts off as a rich green, gradually maturing into a deep brownish-black shade. Its stiff, upright leaves grow along thick, vertical stems, giving it a striking, feather-like appearance. This hardy plant does well in temperatures ranging from 16°C (60°F) to 24°C (75°F). For best results, place it in a bright room, but avoid direct sunlight. Water generously from spring through autumn, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. During the winter months, reduce watering and let the soil dry out slightly. Feed it between March and September. The plant reaches a height of 100cm (40″) and a spread of 80cm (32″).
