With bold trumpet-shaped flowers and handsome pinnate leaves, Campsis radicans is an impressively exotic climber which is surprisingly hardy given its tropical looks. Pendulous clusters of red-orange trumpet flowers, about 8cm long, are produced from the ends of branches. This vigorous twining vine will rapidly cover a south or west-facing wall with lush green foliage, climbing vertical surfaces with its self-clinging stems. The flowers attract a wealth of beneficial pollinators.

Maximum height: 12m (39ft). Maximum spread: 4m (13ft).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

With bold trumpet-shaped flowers and handsome pinnate leaves, Campsis radicans is an impressively exotic climber which is surprisingly hardy given its tropical looks. Although Campsis are fully hardy, they will perform better when grown against a warm, sunny wall for added protection and better flowering performance. Plant into moist, but well-drained soil in a sunny position. Alternatively, grow Campsis plants in patio containers using soil based compost such as John Innes No.2, and add extra grit for drainage.
