Choisya ‘Aztec Pearl’ is a variety of the ever-popular Mexican Orange bush with masses of citrus-scented, pinkish-white, star-shaped flowers in late spring and, usually, again in autumn. It has attractive foliage, too, with a deep, glossy green leaflets. This variety is more compact than the more traditional Choisya ternata, making it ideal for smaller gardens. Choisya ‘Aztec Pearl’ is best grown in a sheltered position to minimise damage from heavy frost. It prefers light, well-drained soils, and is somewhat drought tolerant. It is sometimes referred to as Choisay ternata ‘Aztec Pearl’. Height 100-150cm.
Plant Mexican Orange Blossom in any well drained soil in full sun or partial shade, with shelter from strong winds. Alternatively grow Choisya in patio containers filled with loam-based compost such as John Innes No.3.
