‘Imara’ is a stunning Rubus, that is ready to harvest from July until November. Generating high yields of top-quality berries, each large furry fruit, is a rich pink in colour, along with a delicious, sweet flavour. Great for growing in wildlife and kitchen gardens, be sure to keep positioned toward the sun for maximum growth. Its fresh green foliage and bushy growing habit, make a superb contrast to its berries and will eventually reach a height of 150cm, along with a spread of 50cm. Raspberry ‘Imara’ is an early variety that starts fruiting at the end of July and normally produces half its yield by mid-September. Grow autumn fruiting raspberry plants in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole. Plant raspberry canes in rows allowing a distance of 60cm (24″) between plants. Firm in and water well. Canes should be pruned to 30cm (12″) immediately following planting to encourage more shoots to be produced. Autumn fruiting varieties do not require supports for their stems. They can also be grown in large containers of soil based compost such as John Innes no.3.
