Hydrangea ‘Bluebird’ is a stunning shrub that blooms from July until October, it boasts an abundance of deep blue flowers that are daintily accompanied by large, powder blue florets. Not only do they contrast beautifully, but they also sit well amongst its large, deep, green-bronze leaflets that later transform to maroon and scarlet. This Hydrangea is ideal for planting in a cottage or cut flower garden and makes a fabulous, showy specimen plant. It develops in height and spread to 100cm, adds lots of ornamental value and year-round garden interest. Hydrangea serrata prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Alternatively plant hydrangea serrata in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
