From a rosette of glossy, narrow leaves, multiple sturdy stems emerge, each crowned with large, pink, globe-shaped flower heads. Unlike other alliums, which typically produce a single bloom per bulb, Allium ‘Lucky Balloons’ forms two or three flowers on each stem, creating the delightful effect of balloons floating above your garden! These alliums are perfect for adding striking vertical interest to both borders and containers. Once established, they’ll reliably return year after year with minimal care. The nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for pollinators and make stunning cut flowers, whether fresh or dried, particularly as seed heads. Height: 60 cm (24 in). Spread: 20 cm (8 in). From a basal rosette of glossy, linear leaves rise multiple strong stems topped by large, pink, spherical heads. Alliums thrive in free-draining soils in full sun. If growing in clay soils, add grit when planting to improve drainage. Avoid planting in cold wet soils as the bulbs are prone to rot in these conditions. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4”) and a distance of 10cm (4”) apart. A slow release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.
