It produces a profusion of yellow-green catkins in early spring, followed by a generous crop of delicious cobnuts from September onwards. Hazelnut ‘Red Cracker’: A striking red filbert variety, featuring dark red leaves and vibrant red husks that encase crisp, white kernels. This vigorous tree shines in spring with its eye-catching foliage and adds winter interest with its yellow catkins, which remain on the tree throughout the colder months. Choose a sheltered position on moist, slightly acid, well drained soil in sun or light shade.
